Paramount Pictures delays Transformers: Rise of the Beasts and Star Trek 4

November 14, 2021 by Gary Collinson

Paramount Pictures has announced delays to two of its upcoming tentpole releases, with the studio pushing back the release of the next instalments in both the Transformers and Star Trek movie franchises.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, a follow-up to the 2018 soft-reboot Bumblebee, was previously set to open on June 24th 2022 but fans will have to wait almost another full year to see the Beast Wars break out on screen as the film will now arrive on June 9th 2023.

Rise of the Beasts, directed by Creed 2 helmer Steven Caple Jr., takes up the date initially earmarked for the as-yet-untitled Star Trek 4 from WandaVision director Matt Shakman, with Chris Pine’s Captain Kirk and company moved instead to December 22nd 2023.

As things stand presently, Star Trek 4 is slated to release on the same day as Disney and Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, although that may well change with Disney announcing earlier this week that production on the Patty Jenkins-directed Anthology movie has been delayed and will no longer be take place in 2022.
