R.I.P. Ray Liotta (1954 – 2022)

May 26, 2022 by Gary Collinson

Some sad news to report this afternoon, as it has been announced that American actor Ray Liotta has passed away in his sleep aged 67. Liotta had been in the Dominican Republic shooting a new movie entitled Dangerous Waters. A cause of death is yet to be revealed.

Born in Newark, New Jersey, Liotta began his acting career in the late 1970s with a role on the soap opera Another World, while his big break came with 1986’s Something Wild, where he was nominated for a number of awards including a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor.

Liotta followed this with 1989’s Field of Dreams before starring as real life mobster Henry Hill in Martin Scorsese’s 1990 mafia classic Goodfellas. Subsequent roles included the likes of Unlawful Entry (1992), No Escape (1994), Cop Land (1997), Hannibal (2001), Blow (2001) and Narc (2002), along with the 1998 TV movie The Rat Pack and an Emmy-winning guest appearance in ER.

In more recent years, Liotta’s notable credits included Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014), Texas Rising (2015), Marriage Story (2019), Hubie Halloween (2020) and last year’s No Sudden Move and The Many Saints of Newark. He has also completed work on several upcoming projects including Elizabeth Banks’ Cocaine Bear and an untitled comedy from Charlie Day.
