Star-studded cast of Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender gains more big names

Netflix’s adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender continues to add cast members, with the live-action series time adding 20 actors, including George Takei, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Amber Midthunder, Danny Pudi, and Arden Cho.

The cast already includes Gordon Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, Dallas Liu as Zuko, Elizabeth Yu as Azula, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Iroh, and Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai.

The latest casting for the Water Tribe includes Amber Midthunder, A Martinez, Irene Bedard, Joel Oulette, Nathaniel Arcand, and Meegwun Fairbrother. Midthunder joins as Princess Yue, Martinez is Pakku, Bedard plays Yagoda, Oulette stars as Han, Arcand plays Chief Arnook, and Fairbrother plays Avatar Kuruk.

For the Earth Tribe, the new additions are Arden Cho, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Danny Pudi, Lucian-River Chauhan, and James Sie. Chio is June, a persistent bounty hunter; Ambudkar will play King Bumi, Danny Pudi plays The Mechanist and Chauhan plays Teo, his son; Sie will star as the infamous Cabbage Merchant.

The newest members of the cast joining the Fire Tribe include Momona Tamada, Thalia Tran, Ruy Iskandar, Hiro Kanagawa, C.S. Lee, François Chau, and Ryan Mah. Tamada plays one of Princess Azula’s best friends Ty Lee, Tran stars as Mai, Iskandar plays Lt. Jee, Kanagawa plays the ruthless Fire Lord Sozin, Lee plays Avatar Roku, while Chau stars as The Great Sage. Finishing off the Fire Tribe is Mah, who will be Lt. Dang, Commander Zhao’s second-in-command.

Lastly, the new Spirit World cast members include the legendary George Takei as Koh and Randall Duk Kim as the voice of the giant owl known as the Spirit of Knowledge.

Written by Albert Kim, Netflix bills the series as an “authentic adaptation of the award-winning and beloved Nickelodeon animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender reimagined as a live-action adventure.”
