Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans drops first poster ahead of TIFF world premiere

September 8, 2022 by Matt Rodgers

Ahead of its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, Universal Pictures has released the first official poster for The Fabelmans, Steven Spielberg’s semi-autobiographical coming-of-age drama.

The poster features much of the main cast, including Michelle Williams (Manchester by the Sea), Paul Dano (The Batman), Seth Rogen (Pam & Tommy), who play roles inspired by Spielberg’s mother, father, and favourite uncle, as well as newcomer Gabriel LaBelle, who is set to portray the leading role of Sammy Fabelman, a character loosely based on the legendary director.

As the poster makes clear, The Fabelmans will be having its world premiere at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival this Saturday, September 10, before its theatrical release on November 23, 2022.

Spielberg has directed from a script co-written with Lincoln and West Side Story collaborator Tony Kushner, which while not directly based on events in his life, draws heavy inspiration from the iconic filmmaker’s childhood to create a drama will that will focus on Spielberg’s formative years in Phoenix, Arizona.

Additional cast members include Julia Butters (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) Oakes Fegley (Pete’s Dragon), Gabriel Bateman (Child’s Play), Nicolas Cantu (The Walking Dead: World Beyond), Sam Rechner (Ruby’s Choice), Judd Hirsh (Taxi), Chloe East (The Wolf of Snow Hollow), Isabell Kusman (Licorice Pizza), Jeannie Berlin (Succession), and David Lynch (Twin Peaks).
