Star Trek: Picard final season trailer features new faces and old foes return

October 9, 2022 by Ricky Church

A new trailer for the third and final season of Star Trek: Picard was revealed at the New York Comic-Con and showed off a number of new faces as well as the surprising return of two classic Star Trek: The Next Generation foes. Watch the trailer below…

Amanda Plummer joins the cast as Vadic, seemingly the primary and mysterious antagonist as she hunts Picard and his crew down and enjoys every moment of it as she captains the Shrike. Funny enough, playing villains to Enterprise crews must run in the family as Amanda Plummer’s late father Christopher Plummer starred in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country as General Chang, a Klingon who fought Captain Kirk, Spock and the rest of the Enterprise in their final film.

Also returning in a surprise is Daniel Davis as Professor Moriarty, the enemy of Sherlock Holmes who was given sentience in one of the Enterprise’s holodeck programs and plagued Picard and the crew in two episodes of TNG. The last time he was seen was parting with the Enterprise on somewhat friendly terms as they created, without his knowledge, a new program where he and his holographic companion could explore the galaxy to their content. The teaser hints, though, that their next encounter may not be quite friendly.

While it was no secret Brent Spiner would star in the final season as he has in the previous two, it was assumed he would appear once again as season one’s Altan Inigo Soong, the son of Data’s creator, or another member of the Soong family. However, he is actually reprising his role as Lore, Data’s predecessor and evil twin who came into conflict with the crew on several occasions. In his last TNG appearance Lore was permanently deactivated and dismantled, making his return an intriguing question.

New cast members alongside Plummer include Mica Burton (Critical Role) and Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut (Cruel Summer) in recurring roles as Geordi La Forge’s daughters. Burton, who is LeVar Burton’s real daughter, will play Ensign Alandra La Forge, the youngest of Geordi’s daughters, while Chestnut will play Ensign Sidney La Forge, Geordi’s eldest daughter and helmsman of the U.S.S. Titan.
