Tom Hiddleston returns for more of acclaimed BBC series The Night Manager

February 27, 2023 by EJ Moreno

The Night Manager elevated Tom Hiddleston to a new level, and the actor is returning for a second season.

Deadline reports Amazon Prime and BBC are developing a second season of the John le Carré adaptation of The Night Manager. Tom Hiddleston is set to reprise his role as Jonathan Pine, and original writer David Farr will also return.

Using the production codename Steelworks, the studios are moving forward with the second season and will look to film in London and South America. While there’s no official word, Deadline notes that the series is looking to receive a two-season order.

The first season of The Night Manager followed Pine, the night manager of a luxury Cairo hotel and former British soldier, who is recruited by the manager of a Foreign Office taskforce to infiltrate Roper’s inner circle. The series starred Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie, Olivia Colman, Tom Hollander, Elizabeth Debicki, and David Harewood.

The Night Manager was nominated for thirty-six awards and won eleven, including two Primetime Emmy Awards and three Golden Globe Awards for Hiddleston, Colman, and Laurie. It was one of the top-rated U.K. dramas of that year, aired on AMC in the U.S., a Hindi adaptation, and spawned several subsequent le Carré adaptations.

At the time of reporting, there’s no set release date for the next season.
