Mortal Kombat 2 finds its Kitana in Adeline Rudolph

May 27, 2023 by EJ Moreno

Simon McQuoid’s Mortal Kombat 2 is beginning to take shape, rounding out its new cast with surprising picks. We see yet another one, with Adeline Rudolph joining the film as the iconic Kitana.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the story that Rudolph will join Tati Gabrielle’s Jade and Karl Urban’s Johnny Cage as the newest batch of fighters. Adeline Rudolph and Tati Gabrielle are pretty familiar with each other, playing sisters on Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. This role will mark one of her most prominent film roles to date.

Kitana is one of the most famous characters in Mortal Kombat, making her debut in Mortal Kombat II (1993) and becoming a fan-favorite almost instantly. She’s appeared in countless games following her debut and will even appear in the upcoming video game series reboot Mortal Kombat 1, due out later this year. Her appearance is a notable blue ninja outfit, much like we saw from Mileena in 2021’s Mortal Kombat, and she has two cutthroat steel fans as her weapon of choice.

Adeline Rudolph’s Kitana and Ludi Lin’s Liu Kang could eventually see a romantic partnership, as the relationship is infamous in video games. Kitana also has a heated relationship with her sister Mileena and a unique bond with Jade .

Mortal Kombat 2 is gearing up to begin production in Queensland, Australia, in the next few weeks.
