Hulu has released the official trailer for The Artful Dodger, a new series that picks up on the life of Oliver Twist‘s infamous pickpocket in adulthood as his past comes back to haunt him. Watch the trailer and see the poster and first-look images below…
The Artful Dodger sees Thomas Brodie-Sangster as the title character in the years after Oliver Twist. Now living a new life in Australia, Dodger is known as the highly skilled surgeon Jack Dawkins, but his image is threatened when his old boss Fagin reenters his life and convinces him to commit crimes once again in order to get rid of him, all the while the governor’s daughter wants Dodger to teach her how to become a surgeon. Billed as an irreverent follow-up to Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist exploring the adult double life of the famous prince of thieves, the series is set in 1850s Australia where Jack Dawkins, aka young rogue The Artful Dodger (Brodie-Sangster), is now all grown up and has transferred his skills as a pickpocket to the nimble fingers of a surgeon. His past returns to haunt him with the arrival of Fagin (Thewlis), luring him back into a world of crime, while the local governor’s daughter (Mitchell), who is determined to become the colony’s first female surgeon, appears to be a greater threat, at least to his heart.

The Artful Dodger will premiere on November 29th on Hulu in the US and Disney+ in Australia and other areas.
