Universal may be working on a new Doom movie

Despite the recent releases of the likes of Tomb Raider and Rampage, Hollywood still hasn’t quite managed to capitalise on the enormous popularity of the video game industry by delivering a mega hit from such source material.

However, it seems that studios certainly aren’t ready to give up trying, and it looks like Universal Pictures may have another video game-based project on its upcoming slate, with actress Nina Bergman (Assassin X) revealing on Twitter this week that the studio is prepping a new adaptation of the classic first person shooter Doom.

You may recall that Universal already released one adaptation of Doom back in 2005, with a cast that included Karl Urban, Rosamund Pike and Dwayne Johnson. It was however mauled by critics, and tanked at the box office with just $56 million worldwide from a $60 million budget. According to Bergman however, this new version will be superior…

As yet, Universal is yet to officially confirm the reports, so Doom fans may not want to get too excited just yet. Still, let us know in the comments below if you’re keen to see another adaptation of the iconic video game….
