Simon Kinberg hopes Gambit movie will shoot this summer

May 15, 2018 by Samuel Brace

X-Men producer Simon Kinberg is holding out hope that the Gambit movie will shoot this summer.

While Fox is doing some interesting things with their Marvel properties of late and hoping to find further success with the likes of Deadpool 2, one movie that just can’t seem to get going is the Channing Tatum Gambit movie.

In development since 2015, Gambit has experienced multiple delays and director changes, but now things might finally be on track according to producer Simon Kinberg. Speaking to Variety, Kinberg said that things are starting to fall into place:

“We have a script that we love — that Channing loves,” he said. “We’ve met with a bunch of directors in the last couple of weeks, and we’re hoping to actually pick one in the next couple of weeks and shoot the movie maybe the end of this summer.”

It’s hard to have much confidence in this timescale at this point, considering the film’s tumultuous history, but if Gambit can indeed snag a director very soon, perhaps fans can look forward to some good news.
