Nicolas Cage thinks he’d make a great Lex Luthor

October 8, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Nicolas Cage finally got to portray the character of Superman – albeit in voice form – earlier this year in Teen Titans Go! to the Movies, having originally been attached to the role of the Man of Steel back in the 90s for Tim Burton’s ultimately aborted Superman Lives.

Cage is a big fan of the character (his son is even named Kal-El), and just last month he indicated that he’d still be open to the role, should Warner Bros. ever come knocking. However, it seems he’s now had a change of heart, although there is another DC role he believes he’d be a perfect fit for.

“Oh, I think my Superman days are long gone,” said Cage in an interview with The Guardian. He was then told that he’d make an amazing villain in a Superman movie, responding enthusiastically with: “Oh, that would be GREAT! I’d make a great Lex Luthor!”

A Nicolas Cage Lex Luthor would certainly be something to behold, and with all of the uncertainty surrounding the DC Extended Universe at present, not to mention DC Films’ decision to branch out into standalone tales such as Joker, perhaps it’s not beyond the realm of possibility.

Would you like to see Nicolas Cage’s take on Lex Luthor? Let us know in the comments below…
