Power Rangers’ RJ Cyler joins Black Lightning in key role

November 14, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Deadline is reporting that Me and Earl and the Dying Girl and Power Rangers actor RJ Cyler has signed on for a key recurring role in The CW’s DC series Black Lightning.

According to the site, Cyler will play Todd Green, described as a gangly and awkward tech genius who finds himself passed over for a research grant and doesn’t take it too well, until he gets an offer to join the villainous Tobias Whale (Marvin “Krondon” Jones III).

Black Lightning stars Cress Williams as Jefferson Pierce, a metahuman forced to come out of superhero retirement to battle crime and corruption in his community following the rise of a local gang called the 100.
