When Warner Bros. first announced Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice at the San Diego Comic-Con in 2015, the DC superhero ensemble was originally set to arrive on July 17th 2015. However, the film was pushed back to May 6th, 2016, which put it head-to-head with Marvel’s then-unannounced Captain America: Civil War, before WB decided to shift the date again to March 25th 2016.
By the time the film rolls around, it will have been close to three years since the previous instalment Man of Steel, and now Warner CEO Kevin Tsujihara has offered up a few words on the studio’s decision to shuffle around the release date.

“It was a tough decision at the time because it was going to create a hole in 2015,” Tsujihara tells The Hollywood Reporter. “But it was absolutely the right decision for the franchise, for DC and the movie. Having seen the movie multiple times, and again last night, I’m extremely confident it was the right decision to make the movie better. And it’s so important for the studio to get the foundation right on DC.”
So, it’s been a long wait for DC fans, but the floodgates will open with Batman v Superman set to be followed by Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, Justice League, The Flash, Aquaman, Shazam, Cyborg and Green Lantern Corps, along with a solo Batman movie (or possibly even an entire trilogy).

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is set for release on March 25th 2016 and sees Zack Snyder directing a cast that includes returning Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill (Superman), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Diane Lane (Martha Kent), Laurence Fishburne (Perry White), Harry Lennix (General Swanwick), Michael Shannon (General Zod) and Christina Wren (Carrie Farris) alongside Ben Affleck (Argo) as Batman, Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious 6) as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones) as Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jesse Eisenberg (Now You See Me) as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons (The Borgias) as Alfred Pennyworth, Holly Hunter (The Piano) as Senator Finch, Tao Okamoto (The Wolverine) as Mercy Graves, Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen) as Thomas Wayne and Jena Malone (Sucker Punch), Callan Mulvey (300: Rise of an Empire), and Scoot McNairy (Argo) in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
