Oscar Isaac in talks for Denis Villeneuve’s Dune

January 29, 2019 by Ricky Church

The Dune reboot from Blade Runner 2049 director Denis Villeneuve is really picking up steam as it continues to assemble its cast. The latest actor to join the film may be Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) as he has begun negotiations to star in the film.

Should Isaac join the film, he will play the father to Timothee Chalamet’s (Call Me By Your Name) lead character Paul Atreides as he attempts to lead a rebellion and reclaim his family’s honour.

Starring alongside Chalamet is Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible – Fallout), Dave Bautista (Avengers: Infinity War), Stellan Skarsgard (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again) and Charlotte Rampling (Red Sparrow).

Dune follows Paul Atreides (Chalamet), the member of a noble family which controls the desert planet Arrakis, the only producer of a rare and highly valuable spice drug. Betrayed by a galactic emperor, Paul leads a rebellion to restore his family’s control over the planet.

Isaac will be seen next in Netflix’s Triple Frontier alongside Ben Affleck and will reprise his role as Resistance pilot Poe Dameron in Star Wars: Episode IX.
