Kathleen Kennedy thinks it would be “fantastic” if George Lucas returned to Star Wars but doubts it will happen

November 21, 2019 by Samuel Brace

Kathleen Kennedy, the president of Lucasfilm, thinks it would be “fantastic” if George Lucas returned to the studio and the Star Wars franchise but doubts it would happen.

George Lucas holds an interesting place in the heart of Star Wars fans. On the one hand, he is the man who started it all and the franchise wouldn’t exist without him. On the other hand, he is responsible for the prequel movies which many dismiss in terms of quality.

Nonetheless, lots of fans would love to see George Lucas return to the Star Wars franchise in some capacity. Could it happen? Well, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy told the following to Rolling Stone:

“I doubt it but listen, I think that would be fantastic, if he would be interested in doing that again. But I doubt it. He’s loving doing his museum (the upcoming Los Angeles’ the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art) right now. That’s a huge project, which is going to be absolutely fantastic. It’s a narrative museum, so it really keeps him engaged in storytelling. I think he’s loving that and he’s loving his little girl [six-year-old daughter Everest]. So he’s pretty fulfilled.”

Lucas hasn’t been involved since Disney purchased Lucasfilm but he has made numerous set visits to see what the filmmakers are getting up to with the beloved franchise. Would you like to see Lucas become more involved? Let us know in the comments below and on Twitter @flickeringmyth…
