R.I.P. Max von Sydow (1929 – 2020)

March 9, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Legendary actor Max von Sydow, whose credits include all-time classics such as The Seventh Seal and The Exorcist, has passed away aged 90, it has been announced.

Born in Lund, Sweden, von Sydow began his career in the 1950s where he made his name working with his mentor and frequent collaborator Ingmar Bergman on films such as The Seventh Seal, Wild Strawberries, The Magician and The Virgin Spring before making his way to Hollywood in 1965’s The Greatest Story Ever Told.

Von Sydow would split his time between Hollywood and his native Sweden over the next decade whilst appearing in the likes of Hawaii and The Exorcist, both of which saw him nominated for Golden Globes.
