Tom Cruise is offically going to space in October 2021 for new Doug Liman movie

September 22, 2020 by Samuel Brace

Tom Cruise and director Doug Liman will be going to space in October 2021 for the first movie shot outside planet Earth.

Reports surfaced earlier this year that Tom Cruise will be re-teaming with director Doug Liman for an unknown film that will be the first to shoot in space.

Now its official with the pair’s flight into space already booked and with a date in the calendar. According to Space Shuttle Almanac, which covers space-related stories on Twitter, the two will be leaving planet Earth in October 2021:

“So its confirmed that @CommanderMLA is flying the @Axiom_Space @SpaceX #CrewDragon tourist mission with Director @DougLiman & Tom Cruise. One seat still to be filled. They are to launch in October, 2021.”

Perhaps that third seat is resaved for another cameraman or producer? SSA also included a manifest in their tweet for the International Space Station’s next three years.

So, while we know nothing about the movie, it’s exciting to hear that their slot is officially booked. It will be interesting to see what Cruise and Liman have planned for the sequence. Whatever happens, it will surely be Cruise’s biggest movie stunt yet.
