Five Nights at Freddy’s movie gets production start date

November 21, 2020 by Liam Waddington

Although development on the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie adaptation has been ongoing for years now, it seems like the project has taken a major step forward to entering production.

The news comes from Blumhouse’s Twitter account that links to a Reddit post by the video game series creator Scott Cawthon where he announces minor plot details and reveals the movie is set to begin filming in Spring 2021.

#FiveNightsAtFreddys creator Scott Cawthon stopped by Reddit to give an update on #FNAF: https://t.co/3R0pQuDApK

Filming will start in the spring! 🎉👏

— Blumhouse (@blumhouse) November 20, 2020

“Some of these came from big studios, some from big directors, some from me, and some from other hired writers,” he continued. “I gave the screenplays a name, and I’ll include a brief synopsis, as well as what ultimately led to each screenplay being rejected. Let’s get started!… Oh right, so onto the bad news. The bad news is that there won’t be any more screenplays to add to this list since we’re officially making the “Mike” screenplay. Filming starts in Spring!”

Chris Columbus (Home Alone, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone) is still attached to be the director of the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie adaptation with Cawthon on board to write the project and Jason Blum will produce the project for Blumhouse Productions.
