Disney+ adding Star Wars: Clone Wars, Ewoks movies and animated series, and Boba Fett’s first appearance

March 17, 2021 by Gary Collinson

Here’s some exciting news for Star Wars fans – and completionists in particular – as Disney+ has announced that it is set to bring the Star Wars Vintage Collection to the streaming service on April 2nd.

Along with Genndy Tartakovsky’s Star Wars: Clone Wars animated series from 2003, the new additions include Lucasfilm’s two Ewoks TV movies – 1984’s Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure and 1985’s Ewoks: The Battle for Endor – as well as both seasons of the Ewoks animated series and The Story of the Faithful Wookiee, the animated segment from the notorious Star Wars Holiday Special.

In the case of the Ewoks animated series, this is the first time that both seasons have been made available on home video in their entirety, while we suspect The Story of the Faithful Wookiee – which introduced fan favourite character Boba Fett two years prior to his appearance in Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back – is surely the only part of the disastrous Holiday Special that is ever going to officially see the light of day.

With these additions, the only Star Wars programming unavailable to fans is Ewoks’ sister cartoon Star Wars: Droids – The Adventures of R2-D2 and C-3PO, along with the shelved animated series Star Wars Detours. You can learn more about Detours here, or in the video below…

Are you excited about the prospect of revisiting the post-Return of the Jedi era of Star Wars TV? They’re not The Mandalorian by any stretch of the imagination, but sure to serve up plenty of nostalgia for long-time fans who remember the painful dearth of new Star Wars material in the dark days post-Return of the Jedi.
