Netflix debuts first look at The Sandman featuring Tom Sturridge’s Dream

September 25, 2021 by EJ Moreno

Neil Gaiman’s iconic work The Sandman is heading to Netflix, and we have the first look at the series.

Netflix has hailed The Sandman as “a rich blend of modern myth and dark fantasy in which contemporary fiction, historical drama, and legend are seamlessly interwoven.”

The series will follow Dream – played by Tom Sturridge – as he goes about putting right the mistakes he’s made during his very long existence. Check out the first look clip of Dream below, along with three posters featuring Dream, Death (Kirby Howell-Baptiste) and Desire (Mason Alexander Park)…

Featuring in the cast of The Sandman are Tom Sturridge (Sweetbitter) as Dream, Gwendolyn Christie (Game of Thrones) as Lucifer, Charles Dance (Game of Thrones) as Roderick Burgess, Boyd Holbrook (Narcos) as The Corinthian, Patton Oswalt (Happy!) as the voice of Matthew the Raven, Kirby Howell-Baptiste (The Good Place) as Death, Jenna Coleman (Doctor Who) as Johanna Constantine, Joely Richardson (Nip/Tuck) as Ethel Cripps, Mason Alexander Park (Cowboy Bebop) as Desire and David Thewlis (the Harry Potter films) as John Dee.

The Lord of Dreams has been summoned and captured by mortal men. Once free from his captivity, this eternal ruler of Dreams will realize that his troubles are only just beginning.

The Sandman is a Netflix series based on the groundbreaking comic book series created for DC by Neil Gaiman. The series is Executive Produced by Neil Gaiman, Allan Heinberg, & David S. Goyer.
