Jodie Comer to headline London-set apocalyptic drama The End We Start From

May 10, 2022 by Matt Rodgers

Jodie Comer is on a bit of a roll following her BAFTA win for acclaimed pandemic drama Help, and now the Killing Eve star has lined up her next project in the form of apocalyptic drama The End We Start From.

Having finished her tenure as pesky psychopath Villanelle, Comer had backed up her stellar run of Free Guy, The Last Duel and Help by signing on to headline the long-gestating adaptation of Megan Hunter’s novel, The End We Start From.

According to Deadline the film is ‘set amid an environmental crisis that sees London submerged by flood waters, the feminist survival story focuses on a young family torn apart in the chaos. Comer will play a mother who with her newborn child tries to find a way home, navigating the most challenging and apocalyptic start to motherhood.’

Benedict Cumberbatch’s SunnyMarch production company picked up the rights to the novel back in 2017 alongside Hera Pictures, and have tasked BAFTA winning Mahalia Belo (The Long Song) with bringing to life the script by Succession writer Alice Birch.
