Brett Goldstein reveals season 3 will probably blow the final whistle on Ted Lasso

June 6, 2022 by Matt Rodgers

Ted Lasso came to us at a time when the world needed him most. A charming, feel-good drama that transcended the four corners of the football pitch to win awards and fans in equal measure. So it comes as something as a blow that the shows writer and midfield hard-man Brett Goldstein has revealed that Ted Lasso’s third season is being written as its last.

In an interview with The Sunday Times, Goldstein, who also plays fan-favourite Roy Kent, said of the news that the third season was to be the last “We are writing it like that”, before adding in true Roy Kent style “It was planned as three. Spoiler alert — everyone dies.”

Season 3 is currently in production in West London, and while it has been hinted at before that the series had a three season arc, that was before Ted Lasso became such a huge success. This news appears to indicate that the final whistle will be blown on Ted’s tenure as AFC Richmond manager later this year.
