John Wick prequel series The Continental moves to Peacock

August 16, 2022 by Ricky Church

The John Wick prequel series The Continental is switching homes. The Lionsgate series was set to premiere on Starz, but it has now been moved to NBC’s streaming service Peacock, where all three films in the John Wick franchise are currently available.

The Continental stars Colin Woodell (The Flight Attendant) as a young Winston, played in the films by Ian McShane, as he attempts to establish The Continental Hotel, a safe ground for members of the High Table’s underworld, from those who currently control it.

“The John Wick films have become a global phenomenon, are among the most watched titles on Peacock, and we are thrilled and honored to partner with Lionsgate to extend this incredible franchise,” said Kelly Campbell, President of Peacock and Direct-to-Consumer. “We understand the value of a global franchise and Val Boreland and team knew that by bringing this special event series to Peacock and putting the full power of NBCUniversal behind it, the premiere of The Continental will be the streaming event of the year.”

The Continental is set to “explore the origin behind the hotel-for-assassins, the centerpiece of the John Wick universe, through the eyes and actions of a young Winston Scott who is dragged into the Hell-scape of a 1975 New York City to face a past he thought he’d left behind. Winston charts a deadly course through the New York’s mysterious underworld in a harrowing attempt to seize the iconic hotel, which serves as the meeting point for the world’s most dangerous criminals.”

Featuring alongside Woodell in the The Continental are Hubert Point-Du Jour as Miles, Jessica Allain as Lou, Mishel Prada as KD, Nhung Kate as Yen, Mel Gibson as Cormac, Ben Robson as Frankie, Peter Greene (Training Day), Jeremy Bobb (Russian Doll), Ayomide Adegun as a young Charon, Katie McGrath (Supergirl) as The Adjudicator, Ray McKinnon (Rectify) as Jenkins, Adam Shapiro (Never Have I Ever), Mark Musashi (Fear of the Walking Dead) as Hansel and Marina Mazepa (Malignant) as Gretel.

The Continental will premiere on Peacock in 2023 for a consecutive three-night event with three 90 minute episodes. Meanwhile, John Wick Chapter 4 recently released a teaser for the next feature-length installment of the franchise.
