Jamie Foxx to play Little John in Robin Hood: Origins

January 13, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Deadline is reporting that Jamie Foxx has signed on to the cast of Lionsgate’s Robin Hood: Origins, where he’s set to play the character of Little John alongside Taron Egerton’s Robin and Eve Hewson’s Maid Marian.

Foxx’s Little John is described as “a battle-hardened but war-weary veteran of The Crusades who starts out distrustful of Robin Hood (they fought on opposite sides), and then warms to the young hero in the gritty revisionist take on the legend.”

Robin Hood: Origins is being directed by Otto Bathurst (Peaky Blinders) from a script by Joby Harold (Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur), and is set to go into production once Egerton finishes up with the sequel to Kingsman: The Secret Service.
