September 3, 2023 by Gary Collinson

It’s the game all G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero fans longed for back in the day, and it’s only taken 40 years but it looks like it’s finally coming…

Yes, get ready to defend human freedom against a ruthless terrorist organisation determined to rule the world, with Freedom Games announcing the upcoming release of G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra, retro side-scrolling beat ’em up which will let players cry “Yo, Joe!” as they battle their way through seemingly never ending waves of Cobra Troopers, Crimson Guard, B.A.T.s and Vipers as the likes of Duke, Scarlett, Snake Eyes, Roadblock and Gung-Ho!

The game promises both couch and multiplayer co-op, along with “extensive” post-launch content which will add new Joe heroes and Cobra villains into the fray along with additional levels and game modes. Take a look at the key art and reveal trailer here…

Cobra rears its ugly head yet again and it’s up to G.I. JOE to save the world! Embracing the 1980s era of the iconic universe, Wrath of Cobra is a retro side-scrolling beat ’em up. Play as one of the legendary G.I. JOE characters, including Duke, Scarlett, Roadblock, Snake Eyes, and more. Defeat hordes of Cobra troopers, Vipers, Crimson Guards and more of Cobra’s malevolent machinations.

Bring Cobra down, striking back at the likes of Destro, Serpentor, Baroness, and Cobra Commander himself! Fight your own way: Rely on your fists and get up close and personal using each character’s unique combos and special moves or keep your foes at a distance with a variety of weapons!
