Jeremy Allen White in talks to star in Bruce Springsteen biopic

March 27, 2024 by EJ Moreno

Bruce Springsteen is joining the ranks of Bob Marley, Queen, and Elton John as another musical icon is getting a big-screen adaptation of their life.

Deadline broke the story that Scott Stuber is teaming with Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein & Eric Robinson to craft a biopic of Springsteen’s life focused on creating one of his most famous works.

Who will star as The Boss? The outlet reports that Jeremy Allen White is the studio’s top choice. Negotiations haven’t begun with the actor, as he’s currently filming back-to-back seasons of FX’s The Bear. The actor is a big deal right now, starring in A24’s The Iron Claw and winning multiple awards for The Bear.

The film is described as a narrative feature about Bruce Springsteen and the long effort to put together his seminal 1982 album Nebraska. The album’s creation is fairly infamous as it came during a rocky time for the musical icon; it was even made on a four-track recorder alone in a bedroom in a house he rented in Colts Neck, NJ.

Springsteen and his manager, Jon Landau, are involved in the project. Deadline notes the film is based on the Warren Zanes book published last year. A24 is in talks to make the film.
