Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow casts Kara’s parents

January 20, 2025 by Gary Collinson

With filming on DC Studios’ Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow kicking off this past week in the UK, THR has brought some new casting news with the announcement that David Krumholtz (Oppenheimer) and Emily Beecham (1899) have been cast as Kara Zor-El’s Kryptonian parents.

The film – the second in the rebooted DC Universe from James Gunn and Peter Safran after Gunn’s Superman – is being directed by Craig Gillespie (Cruella), with House of the Dragon’s Milly Alcock starring in the lead role as Kara, a.k.a. Supergirl.

Based on Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s comic book miniseries of the same name, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow follows Kara as she meets a young alien girl Ruthye Mary Knolle and embarks on a cosmic quest of revenge against Krem of the Yellow Hills, responsible for killing Ruthye’s father.

Eve Ridley (3 Body Problem) is portraying Ruthye, with Matthias Schoenaerts (The Old Guard) as the villainous Krem of the Yellow Hills. Meanwhile, Jason Momoa also makes his DC return, albeit swapping out of the role of Aquaman in favour of the alien bounty hunter Lobo.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is set for release on June 26th 2026.
