Spider-Man 4 promises a ‘Brand New Day’ for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker

April 1, 2025 by EJ Moreno

Tom Holland’s return as Spider-Man has a new title and release date.

Filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) is taking on directorial duties and his first outing in the Spider-Man franchise will be the upcoming fourth entry, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The name was revealed at this year’s CinemaCon during the Sony Pictures showcase.

The new director joined the presentation, joking that he already lost ‘$200 at the roulette table’ in Las Vegas. “To say that it’s an honor to be standing on this stage is a pretty big understatement,” Cretton said.

Cretton  went on to express what brought him to this project, citing being a lifelong fan of the character and being drawn to Peter Parker’s “humor” and “messy humanity.” The filmmaker would go on to call Brand New Day “a ride that we haven’t really seen before.”

Tom Holland briefly appeared in a video message. He’s currently filming Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey before Spider-Man 4‘s summer shoot. The actor gave a “massive thank you for all of your support” and added, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a fresh start.”

Little is known about the film other than that Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna are writing it after previously penning the massively successful No Way Home. While yet to be officially confirmed, Stranger Things actress Sadie Sink is reportedly set to star alongside Tom Holland in an as-yet-unconfirmed role.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day set to hit theaters on July 31, 2026.
