Demi Moore and Colman Domingo to play Betty and Barney Hill in Strange Arrivals

May 11, 2025 by EJ Moreno

A dream team of Demi Moore and Colman Domingo has been born. The duo are to be starring in Strange Arrivals, which is being described as an “epic romance” and is inspired by the true story of Betty and Barney Hill, an interracial couple who, in 1961, reported the first widely publicized case of alien abduction during a trip back from Niagara Falls.

Both actors are coming off the recent awards season, during which they served as powerhouses on the campaign trail. Moore won several awards for The Substance, while Domingo nabbed some accolades for Sing Sing.

Roger Ross Williams (Cassandro) will helm the film. Jane Anderson (The Wife, Olive Kitteridge) wrote the screenplay, adapted from Toby Ball’s podcast of the same name.

Strange Arrivals is being produced by See-Saw Films, known for acclaimed films like Best Picture-winning projects The Power of the Dog and The King’s Speech. The production team includes Emile Sherman, Iain Canning, Samantha Lang, and Anne Carey.

“As a director, to be able to work with actors at the top of their craft, is a dream,” said Roger Ross Williams. “Demi and Colman coming together for the first time to bring Jane Anderson’s beautiful script that illuminates the human condition to life, will be magic. I am also thrilled to work alongside the remarkable team at See-Saw. They have an amazing track record of making artist-driven stories, and we couldn’t be in better hands.”

“Roger is a filmmaker with a remarkable ability to draw out layered, deeply authentic performances and tell stories that resonate long after the credits roll,” said Canning and Sherman at See-Saw. “His passion for exploring the depths of the human condition and his skill at navigating the blurred lines between truth, fear, and the unknown, make him the perfect director to bring Betty and Barney Hill’s gripping story to life. With the powerhouse combination of Demi and Colman leading the cast, the film promises to be a captivating and unforgettable cinematic experience.”

A release date for Strange Arrivals is yet to be announced.
