Melissa George to lead New Zealand crime dramedy Ms. X

May 30, 2025 by Ricky Church

Warner Bros. Discovery has greenlit Ms. X, a new crime dramedy from New Zealand, which will see Melissa George (The Mosquito Coast) leading the series.

Written and created by Hannah Marshall and David de Lautour, Ms. X centers on a suburban mum (George) who teams up with an old high school friend to scare her cheating husband into staying faithful. But when things turn (accidentally) homicidal, she is pulled into a criminal underworld, caught between the cops, the cartel and a vicious PTA.

The series will be produced by WBD’s TV3 with De Lautour directing. It will be executive produced by de Latour, Marshall and Gareth Williams for Plus6Four Entertainment, Kelly Martin for South Pacific Pictures, and Daniel March for Dynamic Television.

“Ms. X is a darkly comic look into the New Zealand criminal underworld, that blends our unique brand of kiwi humour with a twisting crime story, made specifically for a global audience,” Marshall said.

“Ms. X is a distinctive, fast paced crime thriller that’s both relentless, suspenseful and fun,” stated Dynamic’s March. “Melissa George is a global star who will make Ms. X a character audiences won’t soon forget.”

“Ms. X is an exciting new series from Hannah and David – alongside Melissa we have some of NZ’s very best performers and practitioners and we look forward to delivering a world class series,” added South Pacific’s CEO Martin.

Production on Ms. X will begin next week for a spring 2026 premiere.
