Lili Reinhart (Riverdale) and Tom Bateman (Murder on the Orient Express) are set to lead The Love Hypothesis, a romcom adapted from Ali Hazelwood’s bestselling novel of the same name per Deadline.
The Love Hypothesis follows “Olive Smith (Reinhart), a biology PhD candidate, and Dr. Adam Carlsen (Bateman), a hotshot professor and well-known tyrant, as they enter into a fake relationship, seeing each of their carefully calculated theories on love get thrown into chaos.”
Directing the film is Claire Scanlon (Set It Up) from a script by Sarah Rothschild (The Sleepover). Amazon MGM and MRC are producing with Elizabeth Cantillon (Charlie’s Angels) serving as producer while Reinhart, Hazelwood and Catherine Hagedorn will executive produce.
There is currently no production start date for the film. Reinhart recently starred in the TV series Hal & Harper which premiered at Sundance and will air later on Mubi while Bateman starred in the series Based on a True Story and reunited with Murder on the Orient Express star and director Kenneth Branagh on the sequel Death on the Nile and his upcoming film The Last Disturbance of Madeline Hynde.
