Ted Lasso season 4 begins production with original and new cast announced

July 22, 2025 by Ricky Church

The fourth season of Apple TV+’s beloved Ted Lasso has begun production with a first look photo of Jason Sudeikis back as the title character alongside an announcement of returning and new castmates.

Production has begun in Kansas City with filming to soon take place in London. The first look shows Sudeikis’ Ted meeting with Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple and Jeremy Swift’s characters Rebecca, Keeley and Leslie respectively to convince him to come back to Richmond.

The synopsis for the upcoming seasons reads “Ted returns to Richmond, taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women’s football team. Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would.”

A women’s football team was teased at the end of Ted Lasso‘s original run as an idea pitched by Keeley to Rebecca. Ted, meanwhile, went back to Wichita, Kansas to be with his family again.

Returning from the series’ original three-season run is Brett Goldstein and Brendan Hunt reprising Roy Kent and Coach Beard. As we await further news on other returning cast members, there are several new faces to be introduced with Tanya Reynolds (Sex Education), Jude Mack (Back in Action), Faye Marsay (Andor), Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey (Jurassic World: Dominion), Abbie Hern (My Lady Jane) and Grant Feely (Obi-Wan Kenobi).

Details on the new characters have not been revealed, but Feely will be taking over the role of Ted’s son Henry from Gus Turner.

Who else do you hope will return for Ted Lasso season four? What would you like to see the series do next? Let us know on our social channels at @FlickeringMyth…
