If you feel like rewatching Dan Trachtenberg’s terrific Predator: Killer of Killers sometime soon, then you’ll be treated to a brand new cut of the film which includes the return of some franchise favourites in the movie’s final moments.
Predator’s new overlord Trachtenberg revealed the changes to the June release whilst presenting Predator: Badlands to the feverous fans in Hall H of this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. If you wish to avoid spoilers then please stop reading and head over to Hulu or Disney+…
The additional scene is an extension of the original ending of Killer of Killers, in which the hunters are seen ferrying floating captives into their cryochamber prison/trophy cabinet. The camera focuses on one of the occupants, who turns out to be Amber Midthunder’s Naru from Trachtenberg’s Prey. However, instead of that being the tantalising twist to the action-anthology, the focus shifts to two other prisoners: Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Dutch from the original 1987 movie and Danny Glover’s Lt Mike Harrigan from Predator 2. Cue Alan Silvestri’s iconic theme.
