Cast and synopsis revealed for James Wan’s supernatural horror Lights Out

March 10, 2016 by admin

Back in 2013 a terrifying short from David F. Sandberg titled Lights Out won Best Director at the Who’s There Film Challenge. When the short became a viral sensation, it was picked up by Warner Bros. and Saw director James Wan for feature film adaptation – and now the full cast for the movie and official synopsis has been revealed.

Lights Out will star Teresa Palmer (Triple 9) as Rebecca, Gabriel Bateman (Annabelle) as Martin, Billy Burke (Twilight) as Martin’s father Paul, Alexander DiPersia (Forever) as Rebecca’s boyfriend Bret; and Maria Bello (Prisoners) as Sophie. Sandberg will be directing the feature film version of his short based on a script by Eric Heisserer (Final Destination 5).

Here’s the synopsis:

When Rebecca left home, she thought she left her childhood fears behind. Growing up, she was never really sure of what was and wasn’t real when the lights went out…and now her little brother, Martin, is experiencing the same unexplained and terrifying events that had once tested her sanity and threatened her safety. A frightening entity with a mysterious attachment to their mother, Sophie, has reemerged. But this time, as Rebecca gets closer to unlocking the truth, there is no denying that all their lives are in danger…once the lights go out.

If you’ve not seen it, here’s the short:

Lights Out will hit cinemas on July 22nd 2016.
