How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days sequel hopes to reunite Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson

August 25, 2026 by Matt Rodgers

Paramount Pictures and producer Kate Hudson are in early development on a sequel to classic rom-com How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days.

According to Variety Hudson wants to reunite with her back-to-back buddy Matthew McConaughey on the follow-up, which at this stage has nobody else attached to the project.

Directed by Donald Petrie (Miss Congeniality), How to Lose A Guy 10 Days was released in February 2003 to critical and commercial acclaim, grossing $178 million from a budget of $50 million, and becoming a mainstay of watch parties and repertory cinema schedules ever since.

The film tells the story of Benjamin Barry (McConaughey), an ad executive and ladies man who places a bet with his work rivals that he can make a woman of their choice fall in love with him in 10 days in order to secure a lucrative contract. Said woman turns out to be Andie Anderson (Kate Hudson), who just happens to be writing a story on how to lose a guy in 10 days as a bet with her boss to be allowed to write more meaningful stories. The two begin dating with their own hidden agendas, only to begin developing feelings for one another.
