Jurassic World screenwriter hired for Pacific Rim 2

May 12, 2016 by Kieran Fisher

Jurassic World screenwriter Derek Connolly has been hired by Legendary to write the script for Pacific Rim 2, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed.

Marvel’s Daredevil season one showrunner Steven S. DeKnight will direct the sequel to Guillermo Del Toro’s 2013 blockbuster, which pitted robots piloted by humans known as ‘Jaegers’ against otherworldly Kaiju invaders.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but we do know that it will be set some time after the events in the first film.

Del Toro is on board to serve as a producer as he turns his directorial focus to a fantasy tale set against the backdrop of the Cold War-era America.

Connolly is no stranger to monster movies.  In addition to Jurassic World and its upcoming sequel, he has also worked on the script for Kong: Skull Island, set for release in 2017.
