Comic Book Review – Eisenhorn: XENOS #0

September 14, 2016 by Tai Freligh

Tai Freligh reviews Eisenhorn: XENOS #0…

Based in the UK and founded in 2011, Pixel Hero Games is a video game development studio that specializes in action adventure games.  They recently teamed up with Games Workshop to create a game adaption of one of the Warhammer 40,000 sagas, the Eisenhorn trilogy, written by Black Library legend, Dan Abnett, Eisenhorn: XENOS #0, which is now available on iOS and PC.

Pixel Hero Games, in collaboration with Games Workshop and TPub Comics, is releasing a new comic based on Eisenhorn: XENOS. You can get the comic as part of the Deluxe Game Edition purchase. The 22 page comic follows the story of Gregor Eisenhorn, an Inquisitor, Ordo Xenos, who is hunting a criminal named Eyeclone.  The whole comic is basically the setup story to the video game where he and his sidekick, Lores Vibben, chase this man across the galaxy with the intent to kill him.  What happens when they find him will have to be discoverd in the video game.

The story was fast moving and the artwork was amazing.  Really crisp and colorful panels made this comic book a pleasure to read.  I’m not a Warhammer fan, so I probably missed a lot of references, but there was enough interesting things going on here to make me curious to check out the game.

“I’ve been a fan of Games Workshop for as long as I can remember,” says writer Ryan O’Sullivan, “From playing Inquisitor, Necromunda, Gorkamorka, and other 41st millennium board games extensively during my formative years, to reading the comics and novels during my 20s, the Imperium of Man has been a long-time staple in my life. It is a privilege to be able to contribute to the mythos, especially for a character as well-loved as Eisenhorn. I hope his fans enjoy reading what he got up to prior to the events of the game and novels!”

Eisenhorn: Xenos #0 is out on Wednesday, September 14th, priced $3.99.

Rating: 8/10
