Mark Wahlberg says he’s no longer attached to the Uncharted movie

December 13, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Sony hasn’t exactly had a smooth ride with its planned adaptation of the hit video game series Uncharted, with the project passing through the hands of several screenwriters and directors over the years as it lingered in Development Hell.

However, with Joe Carnahan (Narc) now penning the script and Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum) on board to direct, it finally looks as though fans will get to see the adventures of Nathan Drake playing out on the big screen – although it won’t be with Mark Wahlberg in the title role.

“As of now, no, I’m not attached,” said Wahlberg, who first became attached back in 2009 when David O. Russell was being lined up to direct. “If I was, you would have heard about it.”

Wahlberg’s exit isn’t too surprising; last month, we spoke to Joe Carnahan about potential casting for the role of Nathan Drake, during which he discussed several potential candidates, including fan-favourite Nathan Fillion and Nolan North, who voices the character in the video games.
