Alicia Vikander to hunt monsters in Ben Wheatley’s Freakshift

March 19, 2017 by Gary Collinson

With his latest film Free Fire currently earning rave reviews from critics ahead of its release at the end of this month [read our reviews here and here], British filmmaker Ben Wheatley is now prepping his next project Freakshift, and it looks like he may have found an Oscar-winning star for the lead.

According to Deadline, Alicia Vikander is in talks to star in the action thriller, which follows a band of misfits who hunt down and kill nocturnal underground monsters. The project is set to begin production in August, which would allow Vikander time to finish her role as Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot.

Wheatley’s latest, Free Fire, is set to hit cinemas on March 31st in the UK and April 21st in North America, and features a cast that includes Brie Larson, Sam Riley, Sharlto Copley, Armie Hammer, Cillian Murphy, Jack Reynor and Michael Smiley.
