With production on the latest spinoff to The Conjuring franchise set to get underway this summer, THR is reporting that Demian Bichir (A Better Life) has become the first addition to the cast of The Nun, where he will play a priest named Father Burke, who is dispatched by Rome to investigate the death of a nun.
The Nun is being directed by Corin Hardy (The Hallow), and is based upon the ‘Demon Nun’ character Valak from The Conjuring 2. It is the second spinoff from the hit horror franchise after Annabelle, and has been penned by James Wan and Gary Dauberman (Annabelle, Annabelle: Creation, It).
The Nun is slated for release on July 13th 2018, while the Annabelle sequel Annabelle: Creation opens on August 11th of this year [watch the first trailer here].
