Melissa Benoist and Julia Garner join Waco

April 24, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Paramount Network and Weinstein Television have added Melissa Benoist (Supergirl) and Julia Garner (The Perks of Being a Wallflower) to the cast of the upcoming Waco limited series, with Benoist set to play Rachel Koresh, the wife of cult leader David Koresh, and Garner as Rachel’s younger sister Michelle Jones.

The six-part series will explore the 1993 standoff between the Branch Davidian religious sect and the U.S. government, which ultimately ended with the deaths of 82 cult members and four ATF agents. Taylor Kitsch is set to play David Koresh, while the rest of the cast includes Michael Shannon, John Leguizamo, Andrea Riseborough, Rory Culkin, Shea Whigham and Paul Sparks.

Waco is currently in production in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and will premiere on the Paramount Network in 2018.
