Vince McMahon biopic Pandemonium gets the green light

April 25, 2017 by Gary Collinson

The life of WWE Chairman and sports entertainment legend Vince McMahon is heading to the big screen, with THR reporting that Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (Crazy, Stupid, Love) are set to direct the biopic Pandemonium for TriStar Pictures.

The script by Craig A. Williams has been generating interest since last year, although studios were reluctant to commit as it had not received the blessing of WWE or Vince McMahon. However, producer Andrew Lazar (American Sniper) secured McMahon’s life rights in recent weeks, leading TriStar to make its move to snap up the project.

The son of promoter Vincent J. McMahon, Vince McMahon revolutionised pro-wrestling after acquiring his father’s company, World Wide Wrestling Federation (later called World Wrestling Federation and World Wrestling Entertainment), transforming the industry by taking the WWF national at a time when the business consisted of regional territories who had an understanding not to compete against one another.

After launching WrestleMania in 1985, McMahon would ultimately steer his company into a multi-billion dollar corporation, making household names out of stars like Hulk Hogan, ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. While he would crush the majority of his competition with regards to the wrestling industry, he was less successful with a few other ventures, including the failed World Bodybuilding Federation and XFL football league, and also found himself going up against the United States government in 1994 when he was accused (and acquitted) of distributing steroids to his roster.

Are you excited about the prospect of a Vince McMahon biopic? Who would you like to see in the role? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
