Amazon acquires Linda Tripp / Monica Lewinsky drama

June 6, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Deadline is reporting that Amazon Studios has snapped up the rights to Flint Wainess’ Black List script Linda and Monica, which deals with the friendship between Linda Tripp and Monica Lewinsky, which imploded when it led to the revelation of the relationship between White House intern Lewinsky and President Bill Clinton.

The film will explore how Tripp, a White House aide, secretly recorded Lewinsky detailing her sexual relations with President Clinton, before leaking the tape to special prosecutor Kenneth Starr, in what she said was in her former friend’s “best interests”. The resulting scandal ultimately led to a congressional call for Clinton’s impeachment, and all but destroyed Lewinsky’s career.

Linda and Monica is being produced by Escape Artists’ Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch, the trio behind Best Picture nominee Fences and the upcoming sequel The Equalizer 2.
