Eye Films adapting Britpop novel She’s Electric for the big screen

June 19, 2017 by Gary Collinson

British writer Nick Amies and film production company Eye Films have announced that they are joining forces to produce a movie version of Nick’s 2012 Britpop-era set novel She’s Electric: A Britpop Love Story…sort of, which tells the story of four Lads and their quest for “The One” against a backdrop of girls, goals and “go on my son” in Britpop-era Britain.

“She’s Electric is going to appeal to those old enough to know the difference between the Stones Roses and the Seahorses and remember Oasis at Glastonbury; as well as a younger generation just uncovering the musical legacy of the Britpop era,” states director Jon Rosling, who has also penned the script. “At the moment we’re raising funds to prepare materials for potential investors – things like a mock trailer, quality photo stills and a high quality business plan. We also want to engage a casting director to get some top level acting talent interested. We want to make sure it’s done right and that investors can see the potential audience out there.”

The Amazon blurb for She’s Electric reads: “Britain 1994. Danny Jones emerges from a stifling three-year relationship to find out the eternal battle of the sexes is raging on a new front with completely new rules. As the country dives head first into a Cool Britannia where anything goes, Danny and his friends struggle to strike a balance between embracing the new Lad Culture of girls, goals and ‘go on my son’ with the search for authentic human connection. In a maelstrom of sex, drugs and Britpop, Danny and his mates mount an increasingly desperate search for The One – the perfect woman who can save them from themselves – while staggering ever closer towards the abyss.”
