Godzilla vs. Kong director discusses size difference between the two monsters

July 24, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Director Adam Wingard was at Comic-Con this past weekend to promote the release of his new movie Death Note, and IGN managed to get a brief update from the filmmaker as to his next project – the MonsterVerse crossover Godzilla vs. Kong.

“It’s been a pleasure already in the first stages of it, having an excuse to go back and watch 30 Godzilla movies and justifying it to yourself,” said Wingard. “For me, it’s about taking the series to the next level.”

Wingard also acknowledged that he faces a challenge with regards to the size difference, with 2014’s Godzilla coming in at 355 feet tall, and the Eighth Wonder of the World just 100 feet in Kong: Skull Island, meaning the Eighth Wonder of the World is giving up an sizeable height advantage to the King of the Monsters:

“They gave us a good out in Kong when they mentioned that Kong is still growing, but that’ll be a challenge we have to deal with, and we’re very aware of that issue.”

Godzilla vs. Kong is set for release on May 22nd, 2020, and before then we have the Godzilla sequel Godzilla: King of the Monsters, which will open on March 22nd 2019.
