The Joker to use the name Jack Napier in new Batman comic

August 20, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Writer and artist Sean Gordon Murphy has taken to Twitter to announce that DC Comics has given him approval to use Jack Napier as the Joker’s real name in his upcoming comic book Batman: White Knight.

The name Jack Napier will of course be familiar to fans of Tim Burton’s Batman, being the name of the Jack Nicholson version of the Clown Prince of Crime prior to falling into a vat of acid at Axis Chemicals. It’s use in White Knight will be the first time it has been used in a comic (not including adaptations of the Burton movie).

Batman: White Knight is a seven issue miniseries set to launch in October, and sees The Joker reintroduced into civilian life after being “cured” of his insanity.
