With Kingsman: The Golden Circle set to open later this month, THR is reporting that the Matthew Vaughn-directed spy comedy sequel is tracking a North American box office opening of between $40 million and $45 million.
The 2015 original Kingsman: The Secret Service debuted in the U.S. with $36.2 million, and went on to gross $128.3 million domestically and $414.4 million worldwide, from a budget of $81 million.
Kinsgman: The Golden Circle reteams Vaughn with The Secret Service stars Colin Firth, Taron Egerton and Mark Strong, while new additions to the cast include Julianne Moore, Halle Berry, Elton John, Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal and Jeff Bridges.
Kingsman: The Secret Service introduced the world to Kingsman – an independent, international intelligence agency operating at the highest level of discretion, whose ultimate goal is to keep the world safe. In Kingsman: The Golden Circle, our heroes face a new challenge. When their headquarters are destroyed and the world is held hostage, their journey leads them to the discovery of an allied spy organization in the US called Statesman, dating back to the day they were both founded. In a new adventure that tests their agents’ strength and wits to the limit, these two elite secret organizations band together to defeat a ruthless common enemy, in order to save the world, something that’s becoming a bit of a habit for Eggsy.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle is set for release on September 20th in the UK and on September 22nd in the US,
