Len Wiseman moving forward with Underworld TV series

September 26, 2017 by Gary Collinson

If you cast your mind back to 2014, you may recall that Underworld director Len Wiseman revealed that development was underway on a TV series based around the action horror franchise, and now Deadline is reporting that the project is finally moving forward.

“The series will be a pretty big departure from the films,” said Wiseman, who was involved in all five Underworld movies, directing the first two and co-writing and producing the following three. “I don’t want to say it’s more adult, but it’s definitely less comic book in its tone and character.”

According to the report, the Underworld series is targeting the premium cable/digital space, and Wiseman is executive producing through his Sketch Films banner, along with Tom Rosenberg, Gary Lucchesi and Eric Reid of Lakeshore Entertainment.

Wiseman is currently serving as an executive producer on Fox’s new Marvel series The Gifted, and on the big screen, he is also attached to direct the next instalment in the Die Hard franchise.
