Josh Gad, Daisy Ridley and Luke Evans join untitled superhero comedy from Moana writers

October 19, 2017 by Ricky Church

It seems Josh Gad will be working once again with his co-stars Daisy Ridley and Luke Evans in an untitled comedy from him and Aaron and Jordan Kandell, the writers of Moana. Gad starred with Evans in Disney’s live-action take of Beauty and The Beast and will appear with Ridley in next month’s Murder on the Orient Express.

Deadline reported the news that studios are circling over the pitch. The untitled film is described as a “character-driven comedy that takes an original spin on the superhero genre”. It came from an idea of Gad’s and he began interviewing writers before landing on the Kandell brothers and decided to approach Evans and Ridley on the proposed project after working with them over the last year.

Josh Gad and Daisy Ridley have quite the rapport off-set. Gad has repeatedly tried tricking/annoying Ridley into telling him secrets of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, going so far as to recruit their Orient Express co-star Judi Dench and Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams into getting Ridley to spill the beans.

Gad currently can be seen in Marshall while Evans is starring in Professor Marston and the Wonder Women. Ridley, of course, will be seen next in Murder on the Orient Express with Gad followed by December’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
