Star Wars: The Last Jedi has cracked the top 20 highest grossing films of all time

January 4, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Star Wars: The Last Jedi has made its way into the top 20 highest grossing films ever at the worldwide box office.

Rian Johnson’s follow up to The Force Awakens was met with near universal praise by critics but has deeply divided fans since it has hit cinemas. While some fans aren’t as in love with the picture as Lucasfilm would hope, the film is still pulling in massive numbers at the box office.

Having assembled a mighty $539 million dollars in North America and $563 million overseas, The Last Jedi now has a combined global haul of $1.103 billion (via Box Office Mojo).

This all means that The Last Jedi is inside the 20 highest grossing films of all time at the global box office and it’s not finished yet. The film will likely finish somewhere around the $1.5 billion mark which would place it inside the top seven.

The Last Jedi’s box office feats aren’t quite as impressive as The Force Awakens, which managed a little over $2 billion, but they will end up being well above Rouge One which grossed a total of $1.056 billion.
